Sauna Refurbishment at a 5-Star Hotel

FinnSauna was recently involved in the revamping of an existing sauna at Accord’s 5-star Pullman Hotel, situated in the heart of the city opposite the historic Albert Park. We were selected for the contract based on our track record of successful commercial sauna refurbishments.

The most pressing need was for ventilation and replacement of the sauna’s interior wood that had deteriorated.

A natural draught-fed ventilation system was installed, with the inlet vent placed below the sauna heater and the extraction vent placed opposite, just below the ceiling.

FinnSauna installed new Western Red Cedar panelling and benching to replace that which had deteriorated; an ideal choice since the wood’s natural oils act as preservatives, prolonging its lifespan. The wood also maintains its shape, fragrance and rich colour even in high moisture environments. It’s also known to easily suppress and absorb sound, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The two tiers of L-shaped benching and matching panelling were custom manufactured in our workshop.

The existing ceramic floor tiles were refreshed and sealed for hygiene and ease of maintenance. Bulkhead lighting was fitted under the top benches for indirect light to create a warm glow and relaxing ambience

The frameless glass front, made of toughened 10mm safety glass, with a glass door offset to the right, was retained as it opens up the space and makes it more of a commercial, friendly and safe facility for mix bathing.
