A hybrid sauna in Torbay: a combi heater for löyly or soft steam, plus infrared behind, beside and under you.
This Torbay sauna does a bit of everything. A combi heater gives you classic Finnish löyly or a softer, steamier heat at the push of a button, and full-spectrum infrared adds a third way to warm up.
We built the L-shaped bench in our workshop first, with infrared panels set into the bench front and backrest behind slatted grilles, then carried it in and fitted it like a glove. Four tall panels went up along the wall, so wherever you sit, the warmth finds you.
Spruce panelling and ceiling, a stone-look tiled wall and a window for natural light finish the room. Last touch: a set of matching headrests, made in the workshop. Lie back, switch on, done.
