Northland is just up the road from our workshop in Whangaparāoa, and we've been building saunas here for years, from Mangawhai all the way up to the Karikari Peninsula.
In 2026 we built a wood-fired sauna in Mangawhai with a Narvi Inari stove, a big window and a resting platform on the lower bench. In 2025 we built a thermo-alder sauna with a Harvia Legend heater on the Karikari Peninsula, and another thermo-alder sauna at Pataua North near Whangārei with a builder there. In Waipu we built a spruce sauna with abachi benches and a Harvia Topclass Combi heater.
In the Bay of Islands we've supplied a Harvia wood-fired heater and stainless flue for an inn in Russell, and a complete set of sauna timber, foil and a Harvia Legend wood-fired stove to a builder in Kerikeri. We've also supplied controls and parts to homes in Waipu.
Saunas, steam rooms and hybrids.
Every room we build is designed for its space. That might be a standalone outdoor sauna, a sauna in the pool house, a corner of the garage, or a compact sauna built into joinery. We also build steam rooms and hybrid saunas with a traditional heater and infrared together, and wood-fired saunas where there's no power to spare.
Benches are made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop, then the room is built on site with Finnish and Estonian sauna timber and Harvia heaters we import ourselves. Behind the walls it's the same every time: proper insulation, a real vapour barrier, heat-rated cable and good ventilation.
Bach, beach or lifestyle block.
A lot of Northland saunas are built at the bach, by the beach or on a lifestyle block, where a wood-fired sauna makes a lot of sense: no big power supply needed, and a swim or an outdoor shower to cool off.
Salt air and strong sun are hard on outdoor timber and fittings, so we choose materials and finishes to suit the coast. Thermally modified alder is a favourite here for how well it holds its colour and shape.
Benches are made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop, then we drive up and build the room on site, so the time at your place is short.
Servicing, repairs and upgrades.
We service saunas whether we built them or not: worn-out stones, tired benches, heaters that take forever to heat, poor ventilation and smells. A new heater or a set of fresh benches can make an old sauna feel new again.
