Long winters, big views and a lot of outdoor living: Queenstown and the Lakes District were made for saunas.
We've built saunas here for homes and businesses. In 2022 we built two private saunas in the Queenstown area with an Arrowtown architect: one lined in cedar with a Harvia heater and external controls, the other in Finnish aspen with a Harvia Cilindro heater and a Xenio control unit. In 2025 we built two commercial saunas for a sauna business in Queenstown, with Harvia Qube heaters, automatic steam dosing and thermo-aspen panelling.
We've also supplied Harvia Legend wood-fired stoves, flues and stones to a retreat on Coronet Peak Road, a heater and stones to a lodge at Arthurs Point, thermo-alder panelling and benching to a builder in Wanaka, and heaters to homes in Cromwell and Dunedin.
Saunas, steam rooms and hybrids.
Every room we build is designed for its space. That might be a standalone outdoor sauna, a sauna in the pool house, a corner of the garage, or a compact sauna built into joinery. We also build steam rooms and hybrid saunas with a traditional heater and infrared together, and wood-fired saunas where there's no power to spare.
Benches are made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop, then the room is built on site with Finnish and Estonian sauna timber and Harvia heaters we import ourselves. Behind the walls it's the same every time: proper insulation, a real vapour barrier, heat-rated cable and good ventilation.
Built for alpine winters.
Cold, dry winters are exactly what a sauna is for, but they also test how it's built. Good insulation, a real vapour barrier and a heater sized to the room keep it heating fast on a frosty night.
Out on a lifestyle block or at a lodge, a wood-fired sauna is hard to beat: no big power supply needed, and the fire is part of the ritual. Electric is easier day to day, and you can switch it on from your phone on the way home from the slopes.
Benches are made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop and travel down ready to install, so the time on site is short. Timber, heaters and parts ship to Queenstown and Wanaka from our Auckland stock.
Servicing, repairs and upgrades.
We service saunas whether we built them or not: worn-out stones, tired benches, heaters that take forever to heat, poor ventilation and smells. A new heater or a set of fresh benches can make an old sauna feel new again.
