Commercial saunas

Saunas and steam rooms for council pools, gyms, spas, hotels and resorts: designed for heavy daily use, built to last, and looked after for years.

Talk to us about a commercial sauna
Who we build for

Pools, gyms, spas and resorts.

A commercial sauna works much harder than one at home. It runs for long hours, seats a crowd and gets cleaned every day, so everything from the heater to the bench brackets has to be specified for it.

Our commercial work includes the South Waikato Aquatic Centre in Tokoroa, the sauna and steam room renewal at Napier's Ocean Spa for Napier City Council, the sauna and steam room at Glenfield Leisure Centre for Auckland Council, work at Hamilton's Waterworld for Hamilton City Council, a hybrid sauna for a Grafton gym, and the sauna and steam room at Kudadoo Private Island in the Maldives. We're under contract for the sauna work at the Richmond Aquatic Centre in Nelson.

Built for heavy use

What goes into a commercial room.

  • Heaters sized for the room and the crowd: commercial Harvia Virta Pro and Qube Pro heaters, and Narvi Heat, made for continuous use. Harvia Qube heaters carry a special three-year warranty from us, even in commercial use, and Narvi Heat has a three-year warranty too.
  • Controls for a public room: lockable settings, opening-hours timers and power units for large heaters, such as the Harvia C400VKK and Xenio with power extension units.
  • Hard-wearing timber and benches: thermally modified timber that stays stable in constant heat, with benches made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop.
  • Ventilation and waterproofing done properly: sized for the number of bathers, with council-approved waterproofing in steam rooms.
  • Steam rooms: Harvia steam generators with automatic drain, aroma pumps and water softeners to protect them.

Every heater, control and steam generator we supply has its manual and wiring diagram on our product pages, so your electrician and facilities team have what they need.

After handover

Maintenance that keeps it open.

A closed sauna is a complaint at the front desk. We service commercial saunas whether we built them or not: stone changes, bench sanding and waxing, heater elements, controls and steam generator servicing. Our bench sanding job at AUT Millennium shows what regular care does for a busy room.

We keep heater elements, sensors, contactors and other common spare parts in stock in Auckland, so most repairs don't wait on a shipment from Finland.

Questions

Common questions.

Do you build saunas for council pools and leisure centres?

Yes. We've built and renewed saunas and steam rooms for Napier City Council, Auckland Council, South Waikato District Council and Hamilton City Council, and we're under contract for the Richmond Aquatic Centre.

What size heater does a commercial sauna need?

It depends on the room volume, the glass, how often the door opens and how many people use it. Commercial rooms often need 15 kW to 36 kW or more, sometimes split across two heaters. We size it from your plans.

Do you supply heaters and parts to facilities that already have a sauna?

Yes. We supply and fit commercial heaters, controls, elements, stones and steam generators, and keep common spare parts in stock in Auckland.

Can you work with our architect, builder and electrician?

Yes. Most commercial jobs are. We provide drawings, heater and control specifications, and manuals with wiring diagrams for the electrician.

Do you service commercial saunas?

Yes, including saunas we didn't build. Service visits have a minimum call-out fee of $450 + GST.
