Our best-known job in the region is Napier's Ocean Spa on Marine Parade. Napier City Council put the renewal of the sauna and steam room out to tender in 2021, and we took both rooms back to the concrete and rebuilt them: Finnish thermo-aspen walls, a Harvia Virta Pro HL220 (21.6 kW) heater, and a tiled steam room with a Harvia steam generator. The council's verdict: on schedule, under budget and a very high-quality finish.
We've also sent a complete outdoor sauna with a wood-fired heater and flue to a home in the region, freighted to Hastings ready to set up.

Every room we build is designed for its space. That might be a standalone outdoor sauna, a sauna in the pool house, a corner of the garage, or a compact sauna built into joinery. We also build steam rooms and hybrid saunas with a traditional heater and infrared together, and wood-fired saunas where there's no power to spare.
Benches are made and test-fitted in our Auckland workshop, then the room is built on site with Finnish and Estonian sauna timber and Harvia and Narvi heaters we import ourselves. Behind the walls it's the same every time: proper insulation, a real vapour barrier, heat-rated cable and good ventilation.

Public pools and day spas put a sauna through a lot: long hours, heavy use and constant cleaning. We build them with commercial heaters and controls, hard-wearing timber, and benches and ventilation sized for the number of people using them. More on commercial saunas.
At home, plenty of Hawke's Bay saunas end up outdoors, on a lifestyle block or beside the pool. A wood-fired sauna suits the country, and a hybrid with infrared panels gives a gentler everyday option.
